Our Team
Our instructing team includes highly experienced skaters, who are also undergraduate or medical students at Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas A&M School of Medicine, and UTHealth Houston.
About the Founder
Isabel Wang started Adaptive Skating HTX in her freshman year at Rice University after witnessing the challenges faced by a loved one with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She wanted to create a welcoming and fun environment where children with disabilities could express themselves, build friendships, and experience the joys of ice skating.
A competitive ice dancer with over a decade of experience, Isabel holds a Gold Medal in Moves in the Field, a Pre-Gold Medal in Ice Dance, and Gold-level distinction in the USFS Senior Program. She also has extensive experience working with children with disabilities, having previously been involved with a therapeutic skating program in Great Neck, NY. Now a junior at Rice studying Health Sciences and Data Science, Isabel remains deeply committed to using her love for figure skating to drive positive change. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of underserved communities and creating inclusive spaces.
Upon graduating from Rice, Isabel will attend the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She was granted early admission as a sophomore through the highly competitive FlexMed program, which has an acceptance rate of 3.5%.
Isabel is grateful for the opportunity to help children gain confidence, develop physical skills, and connect with a community through the power of ice skating.
